Outdoor Recreation Party – David Fislock
This is not a document written by Mr Fislock, but rather an account written by Zaine Beaton from notes taken during a conversation between Mr Fislock and Mr Beaton. I have attempted to keep the points in the following transcript as true to the spirit of the conversation but I must stress that these are not the words of Mr Fislock or the Outdoor Recreation Party.
The outdoor recreation party is formed because they believe is it important to encourage West Australians to enjoy the outdoors. David Fislock himself is relatively new to shooting, but is an avid fisherman. The Outdoor recreation party represents shooters, fishermen, bush walkers and anyone else who wishes to enjoy the Australian outdoors. They are pro-gun and pro-sustainability. They are against blanket bans of certain activities, such as lock outs of fishing and hunting areas.
Mr Fislock believes that there is instead better ways to manage our environment and to ensure people remain connected with the outdoors. Introducing wash down bays for hunters to prevent the spread of die back would be one smart move. Encouraging the destruction of feral animals such as pigs, who destroy out native bush and kill our native animals, is another positive move.
As far as firearm crime is concerned, Mr Fislock believes government efforts should be directed toward those criminals who abuse our laws, rather than penalizing law abiding firearm owners. Examples he listed is the restrictions placed on the Adler lever action shotgun and the prohibition of any firearms that Police deem contrary to Regulation 26B – a regulation that has been misused to restrict the ownership of certain firearms based on their aesthetics rather than function.
