Chris Howard – Australian Cyclists Party (Senate)

Dear Zaine,

Thank you for the opportunity to present my views. 

Firstly the approach the Australian Cyclists Party will take to lawful firearm ownership in Australia will be informed by evidenced based data relating to any bills that are presented to the Senate. The Australian Cyclists Party broadly supports  active and healthy lifestyles that ultimately reduce the health and mental health bill to Australia. Therefore the strength of evidence will be the biggest determinate of our vote. 

Personally, I was raised in rural Victoria, my brother owned a gun and sports shop, and we used guns for hunting, pest control and skeet shooting. I would consider gun ownership again if I could find the time for skeet shooting but have no desire to hunt again.  I like to think I would have a balanced and reasonable consideration of arguments presented to the Senate if elected. I would need to gather far more information to have a truly informed opinion regarding current  firearms acts and regulations.
