Stoeger Straight Pull M3000 Synthetic 28” 7+1 Shotgun
We had our first Stoeger straight-pull shotgun arrive last week; have a closer look!
Beretta Australia claim this to be the “smoothest straight pull action money can buy”, and there definitely is something special about it. This shotgun is a more “Australia-friendly” version of the semi-automatic M3000 and can trace its roots back to the Benelli M2 Inertia-operated shotguns. Made in Turkey by Stoeger, this feature-rich shotgun comes with everything shooters have come to expect from a modern shotgun. This model has a 28″ barrel, rib+bead sight, and 7-round magazine tube, however the Tactical models come with a handier 18.5″ barrel and ghost ring sights. Each shotgun also comes with 4 removable chokes.
There is a lot to like about the operation of this shotgun. Like most straight pull shotguns out there, the M3000 Straight Pull has a spring-assist mechanism, but unlike others, like the Adler, the Stoeger has a bolt hold-open lever just in front of the trigger, making it fast and convenient to lock the bolt open. It can be released by pressing the large button on the front right of the receiver. Another nice feature of the Stoeger is the way the bolt handle is extended rearward, placing it closer to the trigger for faster and more convenient operation; a little bit like our Beaton XBS 1201 shotguns. However, it cannot be moved to the left side of the receiver, making this less accessible for left-handed shooters.
